FROM SCRATCH SERIES || CHAPTER 1: वैद्युतकषास्त्र (THE ELECTRICITY महायज्ञ) || PART 9: The wonderful 'Shock' Jar of Musschenbroek

 Part 9: The wonderful 'Shock' Jar of Musschenbroek The next man, almost, a contemporary to our guys unto now, represents the transition period from natural philosophy to experimental physics. This man is from the Netherlands, a Dutch mathematician, physicist(well, sort of), philosopher, etc. the name is: Pieter Van Musschenbroek(1692 - 1761) .  Pieter Van Musschenbroek This guy, was a complete physicist, what I would term such people based on nothing but my own insignificant opinion, as his works constitute a sense of astute observation and deep thinking when it comes to philosophy. His book ' Elementa Physica ' is still studied as a textbook on experimental physics in various universities. This is from an essay on him I found on research gate. This helps understand his position within the framework and the state of physics and philosophy in that era.  But, because his work of our interest does not comprise any fundamental or deep concept of electricity but just a gian...

FROM SCRATCH SERIES || CHAPTER 1: वैद्युतकषास्त्र (THE ELECTRICITY महायज्ञ) || PART 8: The Two-Fluids of electricity

Image
 PART 8 || The Two-Fluids of Electricity || Now, these past few scientists were total contemporaries of the time of Sir Isaac Newton. And now, we're gonna move on to our next man: who's almost a contemporary but we do move 10-20 years ahead. This time, Our guy is French. Et le nom est:  Charles François de Cisternay Du Fay(1698 - 1739) .  Charles François De Cisternay Du Fay Now, this Frenchie also called Dufay(reminds me oddly of Tupac), did, again, something HISTORIC, hang around to see HISTORY being created.  Something about our man, I found some background on him in an article by Adolf Pabst , University of California, published on the website of the  mineralogical Society of America . It says, Dufay was born in Paris, September 14, 1698 in a family of arms business apparently and also served in the military briefly as a lieutenant. And then joined the French academy of sciences(Academie Royale des Sciences) as a chemist. He died at a very young age, so ther...

FROM SCRATCH SERIES || CHAPTER 1: वैद्युतकषास्त्र (THE ELECTRICITY महायज्ञ) || PART 7: First Conduction and Insulation in History

Image
 Part 7 || First Conduction and Insulation in History || The next person falls contemporary to Mr. Hauksbee and Sir Newton: Mr. Stephen Gray(1666 - 1736) . From WikiPedia, Mr. Gray was an English Dyer and astronomer.   Stephen Gray Caveat:  “There are no known authentic portraits of Stephen Gray, and images often circulated online are not verified representations of him.” Note:   I am not taking primary sources on his biographical data as I do not deem it to hold much importance.  Born in Canterbury, Kent, received some basic schooling, and apprenticed as a dyer under his father(& later his elder brother), Later became a scientist by teaching himself   natural science and astronomy due to wealthy friends who gave him access to their libraries and instruments. what an OG.  I found another article on him on the website of Linda Hall Library , dated 2022. There is apparently this controversy over Gray's work being suppressed by the Newtonian Faction ...

FROM SCRATCH SERIES || CHAPTER 1: वैद्युतकषास्त्र (THE ELECTRICITY महायज्ञ) || PART 6: Fancis Hauksbee and his electrical ventures

Image
 Part 6 || Fancis Hauksbee and his Electrical Ventures || Dear time traveller, welcome now, to the age of one of the Most illustrious minds in science - Sir Isaac Newton (1643 - 1727) . Although Mr. Newton did not study electricity in depth but we do find mentions of the amber phenomena in his works like optiks > Query 31:  " Do not bodies act upon light at a distance, and by their action bend its rays? And do not electric[related to amber]  bodies act at a distance to attract light substances. " Sir Isaac Newton So, for this journey, our focus wouldn't, mostly, be Mr. Newton, but a lab assistant of his with an ambiguous history prior to coming into contact with the Royal Society , and becoming a fellow member on 30th November 1705.  The name is: Francis Hauksbee(1660 - 1713) .  Now, I found a really interesting person named:  Sam Gallagher  on YouTube. And this guy's doing a series called: 'An experimental history of Electricity' -> A cause much...
