PART 12 || The Origin of 'Volt'-age: The story of man behind electrical power || In Italy, we find our next guy too: Alessandro Giuseppe Antonio Anastasio Volta (1745 - 1827) This guy, too, was interested in one additional subject: i.e. Chemistry other than physics that is. He accomplished many things: 1. The first of which is the " Electrophorus ". The electrophorus is a manual electrostatic generator invented by him in 1775. This allowed the generation and storage of electric charges over and over again. 2. Also, his most famous invention- The First true battery : The Voltaic Pile . This was capable of producing a continuous flow of electric current through a closed circuit. Structure of the Voltaic Pile: The Blotting paper was some eletrolyte like Brine-soaked cloth or cardboard-soaked in saltwater, acid, or alkali. The individual element was also called a cell .
