 PART 12 || The Origin of 'Volt'-age: The story of man behind electrical power || In Italy, we find our next guy too:  Alessandro Giuseppe Antonio Anastasio Volta (1745 - 1827) This guy, too, was interested in one additional subject: i.e. Chemistry other than physics that is. He accomplished many things:  1. The first of which is the " Electrophorus ". The electrophorus is a manual electrostatic generator invented by him in 1775. This allowed the generation and storage of electric charges over and over again.  2. Also, his most famous invention- The First true battery : The Voltaic Pile . This was capable of producing a continuous flow of electric current through a closed circuit.  Structure of the Voltaic Pile:   The Blotting paper was some eletrolyte like Brine-soaked cloth or cardboard-soaked in saltwater, acid, or alkali.  The individual element was also called a cell .  Although the discharge from this battery did last longer than a spark, th...

The unusual nature of this guy's mention would become even more clear after I mention his profession: Physician and biologist. But to be fair, also, a physicist and also a philosopher. With the next person we move, in this study, back to Europe (😑). This man is from Bologna (Then, Papal States; now Italy): Luigi Galvani(1737 - 1798) . Though this guy's work is very interesting and fascinating too, I will, for some reasons, cover it concisely here.  Part 10: Electricity comes to the Modern World: Ben Franklin's Kite Welcome to the end of an era and the beginning of a new one. Marked by our next man who completely changed the face of electrical research/study and the terminology and concepts will start feeling more recognizable from this point on. This is the point where the study of electricity moves out of Europe für the first time and into(well, essentially, an extension of the Anglo-Saxon British Empire) a little place called: [Drums rolling.......] --> America .  So, this next man in our trail is, not only gonna be a big name in science, but is also, one of the founding fathers of the United States of America . Yes, you perfectly would've figured out till now... the guy is: [Drums Rolling.....] Benjamin Franklin(1706 - 1790) Ta...  Part 9: The wonderful 'Shock' Jar of Musschenbroek The next man, almost, a contemporary to our guys unto now, represents the transition period from natural philosophy to experimental physics. This man is from the Netherlands, a Dutch mathematician, physicist(well, sort of), philosopher, etc. the name is: Pieter Van Musschenbroek(1692 - 1761) .  Pieter Van Musschenbroek This guy, was a complete physicist, what I would term such people based on nothing but my own insignificant opinion, as his works constitute a sense of astute observation and deep thinking when it comes to philosophy. His book ' Elementa Physica ' is still studied as a textbook on experimental physics in various universities. This is from an essay on him I found on research gate.
